Last Friday saw the first meeting of the Constitutional Offices Commission and it was evident that Fiji First continues to reward its staunchest supporters.
The Commission has 6 members - the Prime Minister, Attorney General, Leader of the Opposition, two nominees of the PM and one nominee of the Opposition Leader, assisted by the Solicitor-General.
During this first meeting, Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa added her nominee, constitutional lawyer Richard Naidu, while Frank Bainimarama put forward Sanjay Kaba and Ajit Kodagoda.
Both Kaba and Kodagoda are not legal experts therefore their nominations politicise what is supposedly an independent Commission. They were, of course, the chief fundraisers for Fiji First during the last year's election.
Kodagoda is already the Chairman of Fiji National Provident Fund and Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority Boards.
He is also the chief financial officer of C J Patel Group of Companies, which currently enjoys duty concession on milk and has been profiteering by charging high prices for milk consumed by the people of Fiji.
And after the death of C J Patel owner Sundip Patel, Kodagoda runs the daily operations of the company.
Sanjay Kaba burst onto the scene when the regime came in and with the help of Felix Anthony usurped the contractors and project developers of the Natadola Resort after the coup.
As a partner of HLK Jacob, Kaba's firm became the project's structural engineers, and under the not so watchful eyes of Felix Anthony as NBRL Chairman, the cost ballooned to more than 300 million dollars, which had to be written off.
Kaba also oversaw structural engineering during the extensive renovation and remodelling of Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum's posh home in Namadi Heights.
So yet again, Fiji First has neutralised the independence of an important body by rewarding its boys.
This is Bainimarama and Sayed-Khaiyum's version of true democracy.

Vili Arse's way of saying, sorry I don't know what to say.
Latest news update on mainstream media.
Australia have pulled out their ambassador from Indonesia because two Aussie drug kingpin were executed.
Those two drug dealers knew the law in Indonesia says if you take part in criminal activities that abuses people then you will face the death penalty.
The Australian embassy in Indonesia has in the past been guilty of tapping the fones of the Indonesian leader. Did they really think Indonesia was going to change its law to suit them.
They are now growling in the media About how barbaric the death sentence law is. Well maybe they need to check in with the masters from the US before opening their gob.
The Australian government is just a bunch of hypocritical idiots. They displaced thousands of their own Aboriginal citizens from their lands recently forcing them at gunpoints just so the land could be used for mining. And they go and harp on about Indonesia and it's human rights.
Seriously are these Aussie lunatics on drugs or something. They cannot be that stupid.

Vili is a wannabe who thinks he's smart but in fact he's a dumb shit.
Vili can you respond to Samisoni's post?
Samisoni R
Firstly thank you for putting a name to your post. Makes it much easier to corresponds with.
Secondly I have never said I am smart or know better than anyone here. Majority of what I post are from the research I have done. Usually those are from mainstream media, lowly interpreter, A strategist and various political blogs.
Believe me I absolutely understand where most of the posters are coming from. Just by reading their posts you can sense frustration, passion, heartfelt anger and sorrow etc etc.
Those are emotions that drive their sense of political ideals and aspirations. When they resort to petty juvenile insults then they miss the whole point of a debate and perhaps a point of common interest.
It may be very well that we all have the same idea and dreams we just have very different ways of communicating them.
Most of the common complaints posters here post are accusstions, baseless hear say, coconut wireless gossip. If they learn to post tangible posts backed up by at least a posted source then we can be sure it's not just a vendetta from family members or relatives of former politicians who will always disagree with the current government because they have their own interests crushed.
Also they cannot consistently reference Australia as some sort of perfect government because based on their recent Aborigines eviction decisions and various other questionable behaviour the Aussie are quiet possibly worse than our government.
So if we debate properly then it will be awesome to exchange ideals and ideas of what we think. When posters keep resorting to swearing and foul mouthing everytime then it reflects poorly not only to them but to us as I Taukei's.
You cannot quote the scriptures and our respectable tradition then start swearing at the end or following post. It just makes you lot look stupid really.
The I Taukei's mentality is really bad judging the posters on these blog. Anyone who disagrees with them they swear at. And some of the posts are really filthy, they swear at posters fathers, mothers, entire family etc etc.
A slang or joke I Taukei's always say is "koli ni kaidia". Barks loud knowing it's safe within it's fenced compound but outside it's tail is tucked under its belly as a sign of cowardice and weakness.
Reminds me of a poster who used to post here who lives in Australia and married to an Australian caucasian woman. He said one day he was speaking to his uncle on the fone his wife remarked on how full of respect him and his uncle had from the tone of their conversation. So he said to his wife that us Fijian are a polite and caring type.
Yet posting here in Fijian he was as bad as they come. Calling posters who disagree with him every name under the sun. Cursing their father, mother, daughter, son, brother, sister. Basically their whole family. He even posted once telling a poster to go and screw his mum.
I was amazed at how he didn't realise how contradicting his stories was. At home his wife thinks he's a polite nice Fijian yet here he was the shit.
Like most in here he probably thought it's anonymous so no one will know. But seriously at some point you gotta realise that if you had to post those venum and disgusting swear then you must have thought about it. So if you think about it then are you have to search yourself and ask yourself are you a good person. Anonymous or not if you post filth, hatred and racism then you need some serious help period.
@ 2.55pm.
Stop preaching to people Vili when you yourself are supporting murderers, corrupt leaders and the most pathetic thing is when you purposely agree with a regime that tries very hard to perpetuate a lie that we all know will damage the country's future and the indigenous people of this country. Seriously Vili to me you are NOT a stable person and you desperately need medical or psychological attention.
Dogs can not brutally harm each other....ONLY under this Regime and even they tried to force the former President of the Methodist Church in Fiji Rev Josateki Koroi to their Military vehicle BUT Rev Koroi told them ..."on my dead Body."
So who are you Vili?
Are you a family man that have parents.
Or are you a REALLY STUPID PERSON...O TAMATA GAVUI, LIALIA, SESE RAURAU OR PLAIN VIAVIA LEVU LIKE YOUR BOSS Frank.
Anonymous 12.10 pm
Have you got a short memory mate?
Qarase government did not do any investigation on the women who were raped and people who were beaten up and chased from their homes in the 2000 coup.
Talk about stupidity and arrogance pointing fingers when you and your precious Sodelpa government have blood on their hands.
Most people who suffered at your hands are still only recovering from the pains and suffering now.
VR and Anon 12:10 PM are at each others' throats about who supports murders and other coup atrocities.
But VR does not deny that Bai's men were murderers and is trying to mislead us. Qarase was not the commander of RFMF and was not responsible for any coups and killings.
See how VR is flipflopping? He said that he was not going to respond to any anonymous bloggers but he has now backtracked. How can you trust anyone like VB and VR who do not live up to their word?
You must understand that the indigenous people of this country are the traditional owners of this land. Other people who can to this land were not invited by our fore fathers and one must learn to understand how we think and live our life.
The French President recent out burst against immigrants who have been hiding under the UN Human Rights instruments and trying to impose their cultures and beliefs on their host culture is a good example of what immigrants are NOW doing in Fiji.
Time will tell because if European nations are uncomfortable with the imposed cultures of immigrants I say to you Vili WAIT MATE and see. Normally, the next government will be an extreme rightist government which might stir up some old devils.FMF has been monitoring the activities of Muslims around the country and any army officer that can tell you that they greatest fear is when the Fijian Nationalist discover some of the secrets being hidden to public about the activities of Muslims in Fiji since 1987.
Vili, Muslims too know this and they might be contemplating their move any time. The signs are there for you to see. Why do they need satellite dicks and 4WD. Most Muslims now own 4WD especially in Ba, Nadi, Labasa, Taveuni and Lautoka.
Vili-You were just born yesterday and have been pretending to be some one who is not actually you.
Stop dreaming-This country was founded on the sacrifice of our fathers and grandfathers who fought for freedom in WW1 and WW2. It is founded on Christian principles. You Boss Frank did not even face real war even none of his relatives served in WW1 and WW2.
Stop the ###shit Vili.
@ Anon 3:21 PM.
No. Bainimarama and his navy team fought in a war alright! But they lost to the Tongan navy when they entered the Fiji territorial waters and stole away Lt. Col Roko Ului Mara.
@Anon 3.50
What happened with the Tongan Navy has a wider significance in the scheme of things (politically)
The Hon President put the "delicate issue" of Roko Ului's naughtiness to rest by that manouver.
The PM has had one less headache with Roko Ului sent away to Tonga
And ultimately Roko Ului has to be a nice good boy in Tonga because that is what the Tui Tonga commands of him.
So its a win win situation for all involved.
And of course Roko Ului has gotten and island gifted to him by the Crown Princess to keep him occupied and staying out of any more mischief making in Tonga
And all the Qase ni Vale at Matailakeba are really glad its no more a headache for them running around in Roko Ului's wake
Qarase was the PM after the 2000 coup. He was responsible for bringing those who committed act of tyranny on the Fiji of Indian descend to justice and he not only failed miserably. He actually recruited some of those perpetrators to his cabinet and then went on to rob the people byillegally manipulating stocks and assets.
Sodelpa supporters intentionally ignore this bloodshed and act of violence. They try and blame Bainimarama saying he was the Military commander and not Qarase. Cry me a river Qarase was the god damn PM. He has sole responsibility. Kinda like how you are trying to blame Bainimarama now for everything because he's PM.
@Vili Rakoro
The thing is that Qarase had to buy the votes of the most nationalist and radical people in order to win the elections, as documented in "From Elections to Coups". Some will remember that a radical political formation based in Tailevu/Cakaudrove had a 50.000$ fine to pay and it was SDL that paid the bill. It was somehow a "wise" strategy if Qarase had been strong enough to "liumuri" his extremist people, therefore gaining the votes he really needed to beat the "Indian" party.
From my point of view, we need to take that into consideration. Politics is always a dirty game, and saying that Qarase was not strong enough to impose his own moderate views might sound as a great political analysis, BUT it is always the level of maturity of the people at the bottom that matters. It is that 10% of crazy people you always find in any country, in Qarase had to deal with it. If he had lost the elections, there would have been a coup probably... and he won...and there was a coup! that's sadly very ironic.
The people of Fiji will have to learn that whatever decision or result show up, wait 4 years for the next election instead of doing something stupid.
Look at history! Coup of 1987 was wrong, BUT still be didn't give up the Republic. The 2000 coup was wrong, but still we didn't go back to Chaudry. The 2006 coup , again, was wrong but still life will have to move on.
we could go further by asking ourselves if the 1970 was right, after all, it wasn't written bybthe people, with no referendum at all! And even the Cakobau authority to cede Fiji to Britain was questionnable.... the people of Navose, Namosi and parts of Vanua Levu opposed, and many hig chiefs didn't sign the cession deal...
What is right and what is wrong will always be a matter of debate. What Qarase did ,min my opinion, was a pragmatic decision. but I agree with you that he had been a weak leader, he could have done better and not bowing to the worst nationalists.
@3.21
Well, talking about Europeans so-called problem with immigrants...
When the question of Immigration was asked to a great European philosopher, he said there was no problem with Immigration. Immigrants are humans. Who are we do decide how things should be forever in a particular corner of the world? Why would Europe be the sole property of those who happened to be born there?
You see, you are a "small boy", not a "great thinker". I am myself from a Christian heritage, but it got out of the window in the 19th century, when, ironically, myour ancestors had to accept it under the threats of Tongan guns... so give us a break with your petty thoughts.
Fiji belongs to those who live in Fiji, born there or moved there legally. All modern nations are like that, and the future of humanity (if there is any future because the people like you are frightening) is certainly different from the PAST. The very existence of national cultures become somehow a challenge.
What is the future of humanity is the real question. Fiji is only a case study.
