| Raj: Harassed media and regime critics on standards but now appearing in court |
A statement by the Commissioner of Police confirms the charge but police have not issued details of the incident. We have, however, established the charge arises out of Raj's use of abusive language towards a lawyer from he had recently bought a house from.
The
21 Kikau Street property in Samabula belonged to Joshika Samujh, a lawyer formerly with
the Consumer Council and now employed as a Legal Tribunal with the
Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations.
Raj bought the two-flat house from Samujh - with the apparent understanding her mother would rent one of the flats.
At
6pm on Monday this week, Samujh came to visit her mother and
was apparently confronted for no reason by an irate Raj who started using abusive
language.
Samujh reported the matter to the nearby Samabula Police Station. At the
police station, Raj directed his abuse at both Samujh and police officers
handing the case. He was then locked up in a cell for 2 hours.
Raj was later charged with annoying person, bailed and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court on 13th February.
Bloggers will recall that Raj has been a real asshole towards media and critics pontificating about standards and values while defending the hypocrisy of the Bainimarama regime - many will no doubt be following his fate with interest.

Funny you stated that anonymous 7.40 am comments are just allegations and then you go on and say to him to check out many of Nemani's statements as if those are factual evidence to prove your own allegations.
You see this is what I have always said about you lot. You're a bunch of idiots who believes coconut wireless unproven allegations as long as it's against the PM and government. However when it's swapped around as anonymous 7.40 am did to you, straight away you call it allegations. Bunch of hypocrite idiots. Let me make it clear to you, no one gives a damn about your allegations and statements. Tell it to your own lot who cares as for us Fiji First and the government we deal only with absolute facts.
Anonymous 9.31 am
Ah I see. So you do understand. And you're right it doesn't make sense to you in any language because you support the old ways. You're irrelevant, frustrated and useless. Hahahaha keep drinking that brown juice and wallowing to someone who cares.
Vili Rakoro's comments are repetitive time and again and has become a bore!
But let's check out the other FF slanted mouthpiece, The Fiji Sun.
If you'd quickly scan through today's edition of the Fiji Sun, you'd find that this propaganda tool slogs its employees to ensuring that all news concerning the nation is pro-regime-government-of-the-day. Just amazing how countless pictures of the grinning I-love-me arrogant "PM" is pasted with 'doing good' captions.
You have the uncouth character in journalist Jyoti Pratibha with her usual biased, snark remarks against the Opposition ..."so what is the motivation behind the fuss over money for the Opposition office at parliament? Could there be personal matter also at play?
Pictures, pictures, pictures! What a great propaganda tool! Sure way of exalting the master of deceit by frequently hoisting him up on his high perch! No wonder he exercises his ill-gotten authority to mock those who stand for uprightness and won't kowtow to bullshit!
However, I note, we do have at least one credible article which relates to the Opposition. The Leader Adi Ro Teimumu is being interviewed by N Delaibatiki about there being a possibility of the Lady relinquishing her position as Party Leader etc.
Being the sharpshooting spokeswoman she is known to be, her views in answer to the Sun's questions were nothing short of admiration.
Sometimes I pose to think why is it that Frank Bainimarama has so much hatred for this brave lady? He knows he has stomped his dirty boots on the Methodist Church Leaders and now they somehow report to him but this woman in particular seems to be an uncomfortable ongoing itch in his rear.
Its obvious that if there's one thing the Fiji First Government would hope to see this year is Adi Ro Teimumu relinquishing her post.
KEEP ON DREAMING!!! ADI RO TEIMUMU IS HERE TO STAY AND SHE WILL BE 'IN YOUR FACE' WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!
Note that Vili and you can report to HQ on the double!
@ 10.27am
And who do you really think you are Vili?
Try to consider ALL the honest opinions of yourself that was presented to you the days and months turned into the previous year by posters on this blog site.
Tally up the honest opinions and accept the ultimate outcome of who you really are.
I can help you see some light..okay its quite simple Vili...consider an Ostrich burying its head in the sand. When they do that, they swallow sand and pebbles.
Well, you are similar to an Ostrich. Isa Vili, you fail to notice that your mouth is actually 'filled with sand and pebbles.'
"Food gained by fraud tastes sweet, but one ends up with a mouth full of gravel..Proverbs 20.17"
Worrying that you dont see!
Anonymous 11.50 am
I consistently have to repeat that if there's allegations there has to be factual evidence to back it up. You simply cannot just accuse someone based on hearsay and hope to be believed. If I am repeating myself it's only because you lot consistently require me to with your unfounded allegations time and again.
As for Kepa. Hey I have no problems whatsoever with having her continue as Opposition. Her actions on the Indian PM visit and budget response speech where she only talked about Milk and Qarase pensions rather then pin point certain areas in the budget like developments or foreign aids makes her a valuable tool.
Her inability as opposition leader is a good example of just how out of touch she is with what constitutes a good opposition. I mean weeks after being opposition leader she wanted a pay rise and then expected free electricity in her area.
The more she stays the more people especially her own supporters realise and see the sort of people that used to lead us. Incapable and full of shit.
@ Vili Rakoro
Fill your mouth with pebbles, and howl at the sea, if you cannot do anything else but defend liars, thieves and your Leaders in the Fiji First Government!
Anonymous 12.10 pm
Unfortunately majority of Fiji doesn't agree with you. Hurts to be in the minority doesn't it. The only ones who have their mouths filled are you and your lot. Me and the majority of Fiji are actually quite contend with our life and government.
You're here posting anonymously and frustrated at the reality. Enjoy your pepples Irrelevant idiots hahahaha
@ Anon Jan 24 8.41pm 'Great Sewer Spill' you are quite fascinated with the spill as your post shows, I have alerted and informed Fiji First supporters on numerous occassions about food poisoning last year under the blog name the 'Assassin'.
Yes you have guessed right on a number of occassions attempts have been made to poison my drink and food but I have avoided them since I am well aware of the dangers posed.
I have been offered drinks from strangers in nightclubs but 'passed' unfortunately one of my female companion accepted a drink which I politely refused and she is now 6feet under.
Attempts have been made at my food but you see I dont have my meals at the same restaurant nor served by the same person for I am well aware of being followed 24/7 by Sodelpa sympathisers, yes I know them by name and several by face but that make me alert also 24/7.Keep changing the restaurant where you have your meals so that they couldnt get you.
I already have a fair idea of the person resonsible for these deaths, his wife actually is very well versed with mixing these dangerous cocktails since she has a Masters Degree in Pharmacology and last I was informed by my informers that the 'man' had visited Labasa and the restaurant where Mr Vaniqi often has his meals prior to his death.
Lastly Anon you started to sound like a false prophet using bible like words but ommitted to quote the exact scripture verse, you were a christian in primary and high school but lost your bible when you began working, didnt you??Dont attempt to quote scripture when you havent got it inside your heart,Gods words is alive and not for lip service, repent now and seek forgiveness for your sins and join us at the Fiji First Party.
It always amazes me how these SODELPA lots quotes the scriptures as if they thought us Fiji First don't know about it. The fact that they were caught out when they couldn't exactly quote a verse they supposedly are referencing makes all their lies even more obvious lol.
Yes. In the Bainimarama's and Khaiyum's regime and banana government we were and always will be in the dark. All allegations against them will just remain allegations because they will never be fully investigated.

NFP plans petition to review post-coup media decree: 25 Jan 2015: Serafina Silaitoga
SUVA (The Fiji Times): A petition campaign to review the 2010 Fiji Media Industry Development Decree, introduced four years after a military coup, will be sent around the country.
National Federation Party president Tupou Draunidalo said the petition was a way forward towards allowing a review of the Media Decree.
Labasa businessman and NFP vice-president Parmod Chand said the country needed a free media which was empowered to report anything for the sake of transparency and accountability.
"When we read the newspaper or watch television or even hear news on the radio, it is all about positive events and mostly about the government," he said.
"There is nothing about other things that happen which we only read about in the blogs and other sites.
"This shows that the media is not free to publish what they want and are restricted under the Media Decree."
SODELPA member Aseri Radrodro said the decree should be totally removed.
'Free media needed'
"We need a free media to allow coverage of everything that happens and it is for the sake of transparency and accountability."
Raj said the "strong and salutary focus on ethics" in the Media Decree was "borrowed verbatim" from the previous media council.
"Our Constitution not only protects the freedom of the press but more specifically, protects whistleblowers - the confidentiality of journalistic sources - in line with the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights."
@2.27pm
Yo! As with Vili, here's another Fiji First sucker with a ton load of pebbles in the mouth, cant speak truth. Same same just like MIDA Asswin Raj. Always geared to pretend that the Media is not biased and slanted.
Sodelpa is on the right track to ensuring that the Media Decree is flushed deep into the vale vo.
Media freedom is a wide term. Some people thinks media freedom means or should mean freedom to report absolutely everything. And on top of that it should protect whistle blowers.
This is an absolute false front because the reality is that the media only wants two things. One is to have the power to influence policy, leaders, businesses and the people. And two is that they want money. With more media coverage journalists becomes celebrities and are able to cash in on that reputation.
In the Iraq invasion by US and UK the media of both hoodwinked their people by claiming Weapons of Mass Destruction. And now years later there has never been an investigation about those false report yet the collateral damage caused in Iraq is absolutely catastrophic.
The news of the world in UK was shut down when it was discovered that journalists were tampering with people's voice mail including a missing girl which they then print out in their paper claiming they had a source which through the whistle blowers protection law they're legally protected not to reveal so they used that to reveal details about a missing girl investigation.
The police found out about that through the papers inform that was relevant to their case. And did the media informed the police about their findings, off cause not. They just printed it and the families of the victim had to find out on the media information about their missing girl.
And to add insult to the wounds after the UK government set up a committee to review and discipline the media. The media turned around and said that the committee was intruding on media freedom so they wanted instead to have a media peer review and disciplinary committe that will oversee the duties meant for the one the UK government proposed. In other words media policing the media. What a load of media hypocrite and bullshit.
Fiji is a developing nation therefore we cannot adopt the western style of media because it intrudes on our very freedom they claim to uphold. It also jeopardise our national security. The media decree is necessary to enhance our development as a country both economically and socially. We can't run 3 to 10 steps into the western world level. We have to walk one step at a time.
@ 1.45pm
Sorry to say Vili Rakoro, but you and Fiji First government actions are corrupt. Whichever way you look at it, the word 'corrupt' therefore, which applies to you lot, proves that if you do know about Scripture, you definitely don't follow it.
Enough lasu talk..like a parrot squawking nonsense.
@ 1.20pm
Tui Viti
Maybe you could produce a new movie based on all the imaginary fanciful theory that someone is after your life. You were the lucky matrix who got away at the nightclub and restaurant because you knew better - kept changing restaurants... This same someone is supposed to have poisoned the food of all the Fiji First deceased.
Its either you are currently doped high on some of those marijuana leaves or you need to visit a shrink.
Like Vili Rakoro, I have said before, that there is a dire need for people like yourselves to visit the Mental Health Institute more often in order to get some Psychiatric medications which will assist treat mental disorders.
Just wish you the best and hope that "man" in that script of yours doesn't come to life! Meanwhile, keep your doors secured and go on...warn your counterparts at Fiji First!
Hopefully we do not want to see a second replay of the war movie whereby 'mainboy' makes a dash down the cassava patch.... I leave you to end the messy part of that story Tui!
Anonymous 4.21pm
This corruption you claim are nothing more then unproven allegations. This are precisely the sort of action the media will print and claim it's media freedom. They want to report unproven allegations and will claim it is from a source or whistle blower that they can't name. So if they were lying there's no way to know because all they have to do is quote a source as a whistle blower and know their whistle blower cannot be scrutinised to find out if they're lying. They simply can just print and pretend they have a whistle blower source. This is exactly what news of the world did and we're found in court to be guilty hence their shut down. And might I add the same person who owned that media company used to own Fiji times.
If you're making allegations about the government being corrupt then back it up with evidence and take it to court otherwise it is you I'm afraid who is like a parrot squawking nonsense. So enough lasu talk.

Vili Rakoro alert at 4:44 PM.
Why take anything to court in Fiji any more? The regime has handpicked every judge. The court system in Fiji has been utterly debased. It is now a political cudgel used to threaten and punish the regime's perceived enemies. The magistrates either bring the verdict Tony Gates wants or their contracts are terminated and they're sent back to Sri Lanka on the next flight.
What's happening in Fiji now is one of the greatest perversions of justice in the world today.
Free water, thanks to Bainimarama.

Anonymous 9:20 was right. Vili is so predictable.
All just "unproven allegations", as if the victim's brother would just invent his story.
Well, since FFFP only deals in facts, maybe Vili can finally give Kua Ni Rere what he's been asking for so long, which is Vili's proof that Qarase's policies were racist.
Wouldn't want any unproven allegations!
Vili, which freedom is it upon which the "western style" of media intrudes? The freedom to lie, the freedom to cheat, and the freedom to bully?
@ Anon Jan 25 4.34pm, why should you believe me when you arent FFP?
The warning was for FFP only not shrinks like yourself.
Since the death of the PS in the PM's office, he collapsed in front of the QVS Club, later Ligairi also died then that list, these were healthy men,the PS who collapsed at the QVS Club was a fitness fanatic, but he assisted those investigating SLR in providing info, files and documents and a month later died under suspicious circumstances.
Now I am informed that Mr Vaniqi passed away after complaining about his health soon after having his meal at a restaurant in Labasa which he OFTEN visits. He passed away within 48hrs which is abnormal.
Now this were healthy men,who had made releases on media, and walking about, unaided in full view of members of the public then they are dead within 24-48hrs which isnt normal, ask any Doctor and they will tell you the same.
They were assasinated, food poisoning is the prefered method by assassins, the bullet and sniper is for Village 6,food poisoning is the real deal.
Tell tale signs would be on their clothing since the vomit would contain the poison ingested thus leaving a certain colour on clothing esp. white shirt, then during Post Mortem the internal organs would also reveal this esp the tounge, liver and kidney.
Lets wait and see what the Inquest reveals.
Tui Viti, if your warning was only for FFP members, then why are you posting it on an opposition blog site?
I appreciate the idea, but poison is too good for traitors. Call me old-fashioned, but I still believe that hanging is the proper punishment for treason.
I heard there's a new decree now. Capital punishment for traitors is beheading!!
Anonymous 5.18 pm
So you claim to have a degree in Fiji and abroad. Now tell us your name so it can be verified.
Your definition of literature is in the context of written works like essay. From the Oxford dictionary literature means the study of written work. And that is precisely what you're doing here. You're studying the written comments in a blog.
You said it yourself this is not an essay contest hence the structure not need to have the usual introduction, body and conclusion.
For someone who claims to be university educated it is really surprising that you don't seem to comment on all the usual comments from SODELPA supporters that is rife with grammatical errors. Something I have also been guilty of in here and would have understood more if you question my grammar.
However you chose structuring. Something which is done in essay writing. Which by definition is literature hence I earlier commented about it. And to my surprise it is not my literature nor grammar that you are questioning.
In simple terms you're just full of shit. You didn't even realise that structuring sentence is called literature and that's from the Oxford dictionary.
Hahaha what an idiot. Perhaps your degree was in Fijian literature explains your utter confusion. You really think you're smart don't you.
Of all the comments made by SODELPA lot in here you chose to question my structure and didn't even know that structure basically means literature. A feeble attempt to attack the man rather the ball of points ey.
If you're gonna indulge in petty insults just be direct and clear. Don't be fancy because you just don'thave the Iintellect to do so. It shows in your confusion.
Vili Rakoro (or is it Litiana?), give us your photo, so we know your name is not just a pseudonym. Then we'll know you're a REAL moron, not just a traitor who borrowed his phony name from the broken sewerage pipe.
Is that direct and clear enough for you?
Good morning to all you beautiful bunch of gorgeous brown coconuts living in the only island paradise called Fiji!
So you're posting anonymously and I'm posting with my name yet I'm the one accused of pseudonym wow. You lot really never cease to amaze at your own stupidity just oozing from your comments. Hahahaha
Rajendra Chodory has the Australian anti terrorist law bite him in regards to hate speech etc. The idiot five eight lawyer didn't realise what was coming. Depot him to Fiji to face Fiji's laws in regards to hate speech.
Anonymous 8.42 am
Firstly could you please verify that allegations with evidence. Perhaps a source of that particular report. On that point too Qarase gave a hate speech in New Zealand too in 2006 on top of asking Australia to invade Fiji. He was charged under Fijian laws to be a fraud, he should have been charged of inciting ethnic violence and hatred too.
This does not in any way mean I am defending Rajendra. I am just pointing out the baseless allegations and double standard rife with you lot.
Vili, as usual, you completely miss the point. How are we to know that's your real name?
How's my rival - Vili Orangutan Rakoro! Grrrrrrrr!!
I will have to reveal to all the sweet peoples your real identity Vili.
I have all the time in the world, my boss is not in the office at the moment.
Now where shall I begin. Okay, Vili is a descendant of the Orangutan family. His middle name means "person of the forest". Vili is not bad looking actually. His long-haired, muscular organish primate is found only in Fiji's innermost dense jungle of Viti Levu. Not only is he a descendant of a very good looking clan but Vili's tribe is known to be exceptionally highly smart i.e. working out that 1 + 1 =2. They are however known to solve other very difficult mathematical problems only when the moon is full.
Story goes that some years ago the Fiji Military stumbled across Vili in the forests while doing a military drill. They adopted him and brought him back to camp. Every now and then he would be released into the jungle.
In early 2014 the Fiji First mouthpiece, The Fiji Sun, revealed that Vili Orangutan Rakoro was made Command Sgt Major! The other military officers could not match Vili's incredible skills and he bypassed all in the field of Specialised Advanced Training, Physical Training and Leadership Skills.
He now has an office to himself. His mission is to oversee , scrutinize and counter-attack the source of all opposing comments targeted against the Fiji Military, Fiji First Government and particularly its Leader, Frank B. So this is his current profession.
But going back to who Vili is - One amazing thing about Vili is that he has enormous arm span (useful in military close combat). Like he is able to stretch his arms some 7 feet from fingertip to fingertip, a reach considerably longer than his standing height of about 5 feet or 1.5 meters.
His hairy lanky arms nearly touch the ground when he stands upright. It makes sense that his arms are well suited to his lifestyle because most of his time is spent in the trees of our tropical rain forest or on the ground dragging heavy firearm around during his military practice sessions. Being a male of the Orangutan tribe Vili is considered a loner. As he moves through the forest he makes plenty of loud rumbling, howling calls to ensure that his enemies stay out of his way.The incredible thing about his "long call" is that it tends to be really annoying. When he is in a confused frustrated state with his role in the military, he switches to screeching like a crazy parakeet.
Other than that, he is in camp banging on the keyboards! We note his aggressive behavior on Coup 4.5.
It was raining this morning and I saw Vili quickly dash across the road using a heck of a giant leaf as his umbrella...I said to myself ' sobolevu lei..good-golly-gosh, is Vili in town again? Probably on another special mission at the camp. I wonder who on Coup 4.5 is doing collateral damage against FMF and FF now???'
Must go..More on Vili Orangutan next time ....
Sssshhhh You see, I'm pretending to be working while everyone is busy in the office. I dont want to get fired.
Moce Vili ..moce bro.
Tui Viti says that the late Vaniqi was poisoned.
Nemani Ramasei, brother of the late Verebasaga. says that he was murdered by brutal assault.
Now Rakoro, which of these is just 'coconut wireless allegation'?

The claim, made Sunday, came a day after the release of a video announcing the murder of security contractor Haruna Yukawa by the jihadist group, which has beheaded five Western hostages since August last year.
It sought to raise the pressure on Japan by saying the fate of the other captive, freelance journalist Kenji Goto, depended on the release of an Iraqi would-be female bomber who is on death row in Jordan.
"The Islamic State has carried out its threat... it has executed Japanese hostage Haruna Yukawa after the expiry of the deadline given," the jihadist group said on its Al-Bayan radio.
"The second hostage is calling on his relatives to put pressure on the (Japanese) government for the release of our sister Sajida al-Rishawi, held in the jails of the oppressors in Jordan, in exchange for his release."
Rishawi was sentenced to death by a Jordanian court in September 2006 in connection with triple hotel bomb attacks in Amman the previous year, which killed 60 people.

I have consistently asked anonymous bloggers like you to post in your real name especially as this makes it easy to track your posts hence we can debate better but none of you have done so.
So before you go asking for anything you must also offer something. So why don't you post in your name. Your real name through your email like me instead of just making up a name. Once we're are on the same level then we can move forward otherwise all your anonymous posts is nothing more then a sign of an frustrated individual.
DONT BE A FOOL VILI RAKORO.
JUST BECOZ YOU DONT HAVE RIFLE BUTTS AIMED AT YOUR BUTT DOESNT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO BE AN ARROGANT ASS.
YOU KNOW VERY WELL WHILE PEOPLE WHO ARE AGAINST THE FF GOVERNMENT ARE POSTING ANNONYMOUSLY HERE.
GROW UP AND SHOW SOME SENSE UNLESS YOU PREFER US TO BELIEVE THAT STORY ABOUT YOU BEING VILI ORANGUTAN RAKORO.
Anonymous 12 pm
Sorry mate I have no rivals in here. All you anonymous bloggers are pretty much on the same level. You'rejust scared of posting in your names, frustrated that majority of Fiji disagree with you and voted you out in the election. So truth be told in the real world i.e the present and Fiji today you lot and your opinions are both irrelevant and used as a source of laughter. That's the reality which is a sad reflection.
You posts all these nonsense in here to bring meaning to your lives because out there no one gives a shit about you end of.
The saddest thing of all is that you do it anonymously. Those of you who are willing to show yourself and continue to stand by your points of view, know this we may never agree with you but by God we respect you for having the courage of your conviction and for standing up for what you believe in. I have some of you I work with. We have heated debate and at times arguments but we have deep respect for each other and we learn from each other too.
As for you anonymous lot in here well all i can say is good luck in your quest for whatever you strive but know this as long as you're invisible no one will ever hear you. Opinions and points of view are half of the debate the other is the conviction of the person saying it and that means we have to at least know your name so we can respect your points. It's pretty stupid asking for respect and to be heard when we don't even know who you are ey.
Sa dri yani.
Anonymous 6.51 am
You see that's exactly the tactic SODELPA employed in their election campaign. Fear mongering and bullshit.
How can you expect the government to hear you when you don't even give them a chance to prove to you they don't mind opposing views and will listen and debate them.
You're consistently saying you fear the riffle. Well maybe if you put your point across better rather then inciting ethnic tensions like Qarase then you will have nothing to worry about.
You anonymous bloggers in here don't hold back on swearing, petty insults, even speaking ill of the dead. If that's how you put your points across then I'm afraid you're not debating you're trying to force your views therefore if you act like that then forget about the rifle. Those whom you speak to like that will be the first to beat you up.
So if you're worried about the rifle in your but then there's every chance you asked for it.
Vili Rakoro, no one deserves a rifle barrel up the bum. Even you. And we've taken the regime at its word time and time again, but where has it gotten us?
When it first seized power through treason, the regime promised an interim government that would be clean and transparent. It promised that no military would profit from the seizure. But what did we get, instead? We got a sleazy dictatorship with no transparency whatsoever. We've got RFMF officers running every ministry, and collecting sinecures whilst civil servants are forced into early retirement. We've got Bainimarama collecting a lifetime of accrued leave and multiple ministerial salaries, operating an unaudited Emergency (slush) Fund, gifting houses to his wife, and jetting off to Hong Kong for every Sevens match.
We were promised a Peoples Charter that would honour the Constitution and lead Fiji to a prosperous future along a path reflecting the will of the people. Instead, we had the Charter crammed down our throats without real consultation, and then the regime ignored its provisions anyway.
Next the regime promised us a fair, open and inclusive Leaders of Political Parties Dialogue Process, supposedly mandated by Iloilo. After just one or two meetings the regime abandoned the process and disinvited the main opposition parties. So much for that promise and for Pres. Iloilo's mandate!
The regime promised to abide by the decision of the Court of Appeal regarding Qarase v Bainimarama et al -- that is, until the decision was adverse to the regime. Then it didn't abide by the decision at all.
Bainimarama promised to return the army to the barracks. Instead, the next day he forced Iloilo to purportedly "abrogate" the Constitution, another act of treason, and introduced the despotic Public Emergency Decrees already drafted well in advance.
When the regime lifted the PER, some people took it at its word that our freedoms were restored. Those people were soon harassed, gaoled on trumped up charges, or chased out of Fiji.
Have you already forgotten when some of us were still so gullible as to take the regime at its word and to offer submissions for the so-called "constitutional dialogue" with Yash Ghai? Our friend Dakuwaqa was right -- the process was neither constitutional nor a genuine dialogue. The regime made a bonfire of Ghai's product and sent him packing.
Incredibly, the various political parties foolishly took the regime at its words again, allowing it to organise rigged elections that could only have one result.
This is only part of the regime's sorry record of lies. So, why in the world should we now take such a regime at its word, especially considering it only seems to be intensifying its efforts to deceive us by hiring the likes of apologists like you to twist the truth?
@Vili
due na I talanoa lekaleka qo...
The order came to retreat after dark. We drove our tanks past the long files of miserable New Zealanders trudging back towards Canea. I felt that I could cry. They had not been beaten and they knew it, but here they were going back again - back always, back. I wondered if this was the beginning of another Dunkirk or a repetition of Greece. Of all the troops in the British Empire there are none equal to the New Zealanders. Thay had fought like tigers, the Maori's had executed one bayonet charge after another and they all knew that they were more than a match for the Germans. The surprise and the shame of retreat was written on all their faces.
At 4 o'clock on the evening of the 25th of May I was told to take two tanks up to cooperate in an attempt to retaike Galatos, which had been seized by the enemy during the day. It was the key to Canea.
I felt bitter about the turn the battle had taken and I felt sympathy for these gallant wounded New Zealanders. I asked for permission to go in first alone.

They came up the main street in a rush but were met with a hail of machine gun bullets on the corner. Several went down in a heap, including the Platoon Commander. I shouted "Come on New Zealand ! Clean ' em out New Zealand !".
The Platoon Commander was also shouting to rally them from his position in the street. I shouted across to him to ask where he had been hit he said that he was wounded in both legs. And then someone shouted that the enemy were on the roof. I saw the Platoon Commander lift himself up on his elbows andtake careful aim with his pistol. The German machine gunner came tumbling down the slates on to the street below. It was an astonishing shot in such light and at such range.
I later found out that the name of the Platoon Commander was Sandy Thomas, a New Zealander who was to achieve great fame in the later stages of the war.
