And so it's been for the military dictatorship which is now installed as a 'legally elected government'.
The lies that citizens are being dished up are not new: the only thing that's new is that the lies are being told in broad daylight, as part of every day business and in Parliament and being swallowed by some quarters, including the media, without challenge.
Frank Bainimarama has done it but Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, who wields authority as Attorney General and Minister for Finance, is the worst and is truly a compulsive liar.
In fact, Khaiyum has lied about so much that it's nothing to him to lie through the skin of his teeth in Parliament.
Take the Rugby Sevens broadcasting scam. While delivering a ministerial statement on Tuesday December 9, regarding World Rugby's decision to pull the plug on live feed for the Dubai leg of the tournament because of his TV (Cross-Carriage of Designated Events) Decree, which forced Fiji TV to share feed with FBC TV (managed by his brother Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum), Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum defended the reasons for the Decree.
He claimed a survey conducted by an American Company proved FBC TV had 50% market coverage while Fiji TV had only 43% and Mai TV 7%.
When Oposition MP Prem Singh interjected to the effect that the survey was carried out by Qorvis, Sayed-Khaiyum twice denied it was Qorvis.
He didn't name the company. And yet it was established in December the survey was carried out by Clarus or Clarus Communications - the polling arm of Qorivs and wholly owned by Qorvis, which in the last few years has been paid millions of dollars to churn out pro Bainimarama and Sayed Khaiyum propaganda.
FACT: another one million dollars has been budgeted this year as payment for Qorvis.
This lie alone necessitates the need for Sayed-Khaiyum to be held for contempt of Parliament.
We will soon expose another lie of his that is going to hurt the people of Fiji who were misled during the Budget.
Meanwhile peruse the Parliamentary Hansard of Tuesday 9th December 2014 (at end of story) as well as other documents to judge for yourself the lies that Sayed Khaiyum is churning out, including in Parliament.
The two sacked Fiji TV executives have done an excellent job paper trailing the lies and the manipulation in one document which has been sent to Bainimarama but again as with many things, let it not be forgotten that Sayed-Khaiyum and Bainimarama are joined at the hip and act in their own self-interest.
One tells the lies and the other offers him safe harbour. Look at the pay salary dispute and rugby sevens drama where Bainimarama has neatly stepped in to downplay them both by claiming the Opposition party is just being 'petty', is making a 'fuss' and is 'obsessed with Fiji TV management'.
Add to it the belated and shallow apology about the broken sewer pipes in Nabua and you have a well-oiled doubled act where Sayed-Khaiyum trots out the porkies and Bainimarama uses his position as 'beloved' PM to make citizens to swallow the shit.

Retired Cicero barber Paulie Sabatini could not withhold his emotions as he commended local businessman Al Capone for finally getting electricity to his borough.
The 75-year-old said they were promised electricity in the past, but none of these promises had been fulfilled.
Mr. Sabatini said his grandchildren could now stay up at night and study with efficient lighting.
In the past students strained their eyes studying by the light of hurricane lamps.
During an interview with this newspaper, he said the people of Cicero were gradually purchasing electrical appliances to make their daily life easier.
With their connection to the power grid, he said borough citizens now felt first-hand what development was all about.
Mr. Sabatini said they were grateful to Al Capone for including the borough in his local electrification program.
Meanwhile, Cicero borough alderman Vinny Fratiano said Cicero citizens were also revelling in their new $17,000 pool hall.
Mr. Fratiano said this project was commissioned last month and was made possible with a contribution of $5000 from Mr. Capone, $2000 from the Police Benevolent Association, while $10,000 was collected by businesses that rely on Mr. Capone's services for arson protection.
Mr. Fratiano said the pool hall would assist borough citizens, particularly the unemployed youth.
Asked whether he was concerned that Mr. Capone is reputed to be a crime boss who masterminded the Valentine's Day Massacre in February, Mr. Fratiano replied that these were unproven allegations raised by rival mobsters. "That's all ancient history. This is unfair criticism of a man who is taking our country forward," he added, with a wink.

The four Al Capone-operated soup kitchens on the South Side have fed 31,500 people free of charge.
Speaking at the opening of the new soup kitchen in Pulaski Park yesterday, nationally recognized entertainment impressario and patron of the arts Al Capone said such high usage meant more Americans were being nourished.
"So this is a wonderful initiative that is feeding ordinary Americans and their families by giving them a square meal of minestrone and bread," he said.
Quentin Corvis, a publicist for the Al Capone organization, said its soup kitchens belie the Federal Government's charges against Capone for murder, racketeering, extortion, liquor distribution, loansharking and prostitution. "Alphonse Capone is the most misunderstood man in America," said Corvis. "He's really a generous and gentle benefactor of the common man'" he said, with moist eyes.
A redheaded woman who works at the Pulaski Park kitchen and only identified herself as Sharon, credited Capone with saving her from a life of prostitution. "How else was I gonna feed myself and little Graham Junior?" she asked, nodding toward the corner of the room, where a toddler sat scribbling with crayons. "But thanks to Al, that is, Mr. Capone, I now have a respectable job where I can get twenty cents an hour plus tips, and I don't gotta sleep with nobody unless I like the guy and he treats me real nice, see."

Alphonse Capone did not stand for elections to City Hall.

I’m delighted to be here in Nürnburg today to mark another significant event in the rejuvenation of this once great nation. And to lend my personal support to help agriculture resume the position it deserves in our national life.
I am not just here to open the newest Hitler Jügend chapter, but to encourage you all to pursue the excellence that we all know this place is capable of. Because it was once great and we are determined to make it great again.
Over many years, the Catholic Church in Bayreuth has done the nation a great service by producing many young farmers to contribute to Germany’s agricultural base. Someone of my age can recall that in the 1910s and 20s – for instance - Nürnberg Agricultural School was a highly respected institution.
Indeed, one of its former principals, Heinrich Walkden-Braun, eventually became ReichMinister for Agriculture in the first German government following the end of the Weimar Republic and the restoration of German pride.
That tradition continued for some years. But after the betrayal of the Great War, I think we can all agree that Nürnburg lost its way. This was a great shame. Because that neglect was not only at the cost of the livelihood of many ordinary Germans with an ambition to take up farming, but the nation’s food production as a whole.
As we all know and recognise, my Government’s relationship with the Catholic Church hasn’t always been easy. In fact, we have had some strong differences over the Church’s proper role in national life. And I still think that far too many priests are more intent on playing politics than catering to the spiritual needs of our party and Volk.
But I am sure we all agree that it is important to give our young people the best possible chance to gain the skills they need to make sustainable and prosperous livelihoods for themselves in the farming sector and contribute to the nation’s food production.
We also agree that it is simply not acceptable for the German Reich to continue to import Jewish and Bolshevik foodstuffs that could easily be grown in here - and even exported - if we make a determined effort to work together to give our young people the right training to expand our food production.
So today, I want to emphasise our unity of purpose – One People, One Reich – when I say that the Government fully supports Nürnburg’s core objective to train farmers for one of the Reich’s most important priorities.
We must give more Germans the opportunity to enter the agricultural sector by equipping them with the best possible skills and training. We must offer them Lebensraum for the prospect of making healthy and sustainable livings for themselves, their families, and through that, the wider German Reich. And we must all focus our minds on reducing our dependency on food exports and making Germany a powerhouse of food production, arms manufacture, and pure Aryan culture.
So where's is all this juicy scandal and evidence that the anti government mob promised us they would use to expose their enemies?
It seems they have resorted to filling the site with copied irrelevant wiki and newspaper articles to keep it looking busy.

You can be the world's most notorious gangster or mass murderer but you still garner good press through corrupted or controlled media, and Fiji's is both.
So it seems the anti government brigade are pinning all their hopes on Biman Prasad who's simply going to come up with evidence of bad practices.

Japan has reacted with anger and defiance to a video appearing to show the beheading of Japanese hostage Kenji Goto by an Islamic State militant.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Japan "would not give in to terrorism" and that he would expand his support to countries fighting IS.
IS has cited Japanese aid as a reason for the hostage taking.
The video comes less than a week after the apparent beheading of another Japanese man, Haruna Yukawa.
Mr Goto, 47, a respected journalist known for his work covering the suffering of civilians in war zones, went to Syria in October, reportedly to try to secure Mr Yukawa's release.
The video, which has all the hallmarks of previous IS propaganda videos, has not been authenticated, but Japanese officials believe it is genuine.

What happened in 2000 should be seen in that light.
Had the sword not been wielded to protect the State, then there would have been no peace and no stability but only disorder and chaos.

Anonymous 8:26, that's a childish taunt. Obviously you either think that Frank and Aiyaz are not corrupt, or you don't care if they are. In either case, you're a buffoon.
We've seen the whistle blown on these guys many times, but nothing results from it, except bad web publicity. No one dares publish anything critical about the regime in Fiji, no matter how true, for fear of losing their licenses, their jobs, even their lives.
The regime controls the police, so no charges can ever be laid. If there is an investigation -- a big 'if' -- the results are never announced. If there's a lawsuit, the regime uses our tax dollars to bring in big legal guns from Hong Kong and then tries the matter in a court where the judge has been handpicked by Bainimarama and can lose his tenure at any time.
There will be no chance of legal discovery, due process, or just prosecution of our laws so long as these traitorous outlaws continue to hold unfettered power.
