Booklet drama shows race on for grassroots vote

CCF BOOKLET: Under attack. Below: Khaiyum's selective memory.
Ironies on ironies but as those who've been fighting for a true return to democracy know, it's par for the course.

In another important battle in the lead up to the September elections, the illegal attorney
general is waging war on the Citizens Constitution Forum again, claiming a booklet it is distributing is 'misleading, full of lies and damaging.'

Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum claims the CCF is trying to cause disquiet among landowners, denying there will be compulsory acquisition of land.

He insists the regime's 2013 Constitution makes it clear that if the state no longer requires land for public purposes 'it must give back that land.'

Khaiyum is also wringing his hands over mentions the people can no longer have faith in the judiciary but let him deny there has been no rule of law since the 2006 coup and the abrogation of the Constitution in 2009.

Yet this from the hypocrite: “And all of us need to be very annoyed by this because we want ordinary Fijians to have the right information, to be informed by facts. Let them make up their mind. It does not mention at a single time the fact there was widespread consultation on the constitution. Not a single time.”

Regional governments and its media have been glorying in the 'new future of Fiji' since the announcement of a date for the election, the naming of Frank Bainimarama's new party and the lifting of the travel sanctions.

It is an ongoing challenge though to sift through the propaganda, even as we hear media proclaim Bainimarama has signed up 2,000 supporters, just a week after announcing his party.

As the drama over the CCF booklet shows, it continues to be an unfair playing field and the regime and its well-oiled propaganda machine cannot be taken at face value.

With the guilty verdict of the Fiji Labour Party leader, Mahendra Chaudry, on three breaches of the Exchange Control Act, the focus now turns to the fate of FLP, the biggest party after SODELPA.

Who will take over as leader if Chaudhry is sentence to jail on May 1 and who will benefit from the fragmenting of votes?

You sound like a person who will give your mother, sister and even wife to next white who comes along to root your arse and take your land.

Indians been in Fiji for over 150 years and you still own 85% of the land and the other 14% is owned by whites who paid you with box of matches and rooted your sister.

Anon 3.46 Thank you for the reference to my mothers vagina. I am sure you came out the other end that is why you have a problem with the front. A person who cant even start an argument without swearing is not worth talking to you. But i will agree with you that yes land in its natural state is valuable. If so then why lease it. We do not force you to lease it. That is the whole point. TLTB requires the signature and consent of the landowners to lease the land. DON'T LEASE IT. Eventually the Indian people will have no option but to move on. It is not in our nature to sit idle. Enterprise and individualistic survival is in our genes and i will not apologize for this as we come from a vast country where survival is not as easy as throwing a line into the sea. We are changing in line with the country we are living in and most Indians are much less individualistic as they were many moons ago. Despite this we are still business minded and i guess will always be. To do business we need land. Any economy will not do well unless land security is certain. Cut that of you strangle us and we will leave for other countries. So my advise to all those nationalist land lords DON'T SIGN THE CONSENT FORMS. It's as simple as that. And by the way if the simple natural way is how you wish to live than get of the computer as this tool belongs to the rat race. Start wearing leaves and for heavens sake don't open that can of fish that's another product of the rat race. Wake up to the real world buddy or you will be swept away in the tsunami called modernization. Like it or hate it no one will be able to escape it.The greatest challenge facing the i-taukei today is not Frank or any person in particular. It is the new world that is screaming past them. How they embrace this is what will shape Fiji in years to come.Say hi to your mother for me. Tell her a nameless stranger from the "vulagi" clan wishes her all the goodness of the world and the blessings of the almighty.

Anonymous 6:11 makes a great argument in a great way. Any email that begins "Thank you for the reference to my mother's vagina" has to be good.

Fiji will be shit without the kaidia. You think tourists are going to flock here after we've expelled all of the kaidia? What kind of reputation do you think that will give us?

What do you think tourism will be like without Indian food or kaidia professionals in medical and other disciplines? Do you think foreigners are going to flock here to support a no-school military dictatorship? To drink yaqona and eat dalo, only to be medevaced at the first sign of dysentery?

The kaiviti do own the land and shouldn't allow this unelected illegal gang of traitors to alienate them from it. But the people doing it are the military, not the kaidia.

Blaming others for our problems is always easier than taking responsibility for solving them. We need to get rid of this illegal regime. The kaidia can help us do that. We also need to stop the blame game, and grow up.

forget about 2006..2009.. the main coup that you forgot to mention is the 2000 coup, that where its all starts... from there the miltary made a plan on how to eradicate this coup culture, because we are really fed up of this hopeless coup , and is drawing us back mostly, if you got that much intelligent, you will understand very well what this current government is doing...one thing that is common in us is to be racist.. what about if the story change, we as landowner.. to play the part of the indians and the indians play our part as a landowner, what you gonna feel when the landowner want to chase you or whatever thing we always do to them , are you gonna feel good? think... think ...bro...

Anonymous 5:22, you've seemed to miss the most obvious point of all, which is that Bainimarama was the mastermind of the events in 2000. He was the black hand behind the Parliament takeover.

Anonymous said...

anonymous 3:11, sorry its tarakinikini thats why he ran away, he is the main man,now you know the truth.. if you donot believe in me search for his address call him or ask him... he is there in the US..

Anonymous said...

YES,MAHN.. its tarakinikini, i know very well whats going on that time coz i was there... but he was used by some big chief and some corrupt politicians.. but today im still can see some of them joining some political party ,feel sorry for our nation if this people stand gain.. i really know them very well.. do not have to mention their name, coz if they read this blog they should be ashamed of themselves and return to their beautiful homes... shame on them.. coz now i believe this people just think of their pockets..

Anonymous said...

If it were Tarakinikini, then why didn't the government persist in seeking his extradition? Why did the CRW come gunning for Bainimarama out of a sense of betrayal?

It was Bainimarama, not Tarakinikini, who recruited Ligairi out of retirement.

It was Bainimarama, not Tarakinikini, who authorised the takeover as a counterterrorism exercise.

It was Bainimarama, not Tarakinikini, who issued the weapons and ammunition.

It was Bainimarama, not Tarakinikini, who kept the boys on the army payroll during the takeover.

It was Bainimarama, not Tarakinikini, who helped them walk out.

It was Bainimarama, not Tarakinikini, who used the event to try to take over the government.

It was Bainimarama, not Tarakinikini, who was fingered by his lieutenant, Tevita Mara.

Bloggers, ASK and FB thinks that we indigenous are dumb ass. They had silenced the military (pay/immunity) to cover their backs as they are the only institution that can change their course of action...No disrespect to the Police....Our civil service depts. are gagged by Regime appointed individuals (don't get me wrong some of them are doing some good jobs)...The problem is they are all institutionalised, they obey direct orders from top...Now he's taking on the politicians who may become a threat to his campaign...Politicians keep your hands clean big brother team is watching you....This is not the end of the world for us...The real deal will begin when the Election policies are set in stone and political parties are happy to freely engage in campaigning....

Anonymous said...

you really do not know how intelligent tarakinikini are... for example, how roko ului ran away... they know very well what to do.. if they want to topple the army they must remove the head, thats why rabuka and some other big chiefs planned to take over the army camp.. but their plan failed because one of the chief betrayed them again... and not to forget, rabuka is the one who started the crw, imagine how close they are...

Anonymous said...

i think the government do not want to go for his extradition because he went to joint the UN..and the Fiji government do not want to spoil their good long relationship with the UN, thats where common sense comes in... come on think... think.. bro.. do not think politically to much, think realistically...by the way that kind of odd time the pressure would be much on the commander coz, he just gonna do whatever his gonna do for to save the country from, may be hes gonna do some mistake, that doesnt matter, coz the number one point is to save the country...if you really feel what i am saying than you going to understand.. thanx much bro...

This depiction of Aiyaz rubbing his nose, pulling his ears, scratching his face and contorting it to create various expressions, is akin to an Actor preparing for various roles and a man attempting to hide his lies!
I might use this next time I appear on Underbelly, the Tale of Two Cities!

hey idiot, you sound like an educated ... educated ... educated fool. typical example of kaivitis still living in the stone age.
wake up, my boy (or my dog) the world has moved on. you embarrass us the rest of the kaivitis.
thank god, youth coming up nowadays are more enlightened.
sa sivia ga na gunu yaqona why you keep blaming everyone else. luve ni boci!

People you need to focus and see through the LIES. The basic questions of salaries and Public accounts have not been answered. If there is nothing to hide why hide it. Its because there is something to hide and its so frightening that they will go to the lengths of re-writing the constitution, underwriting their freedom from prosecution in it using the immunity clause (no not from the coup but from prosecution from the theft of millions!), stacking of the cards for the elections through the electoral decree and preparations.

People stop drinking the Koolaid and call it for what you smell. It smells fishy because it is fishy. CORRUPTIONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!! and FRAUD!!!! NBF will be like pick-pocketing compared to this.

Editor,
I think Nardeo Mishra could be right in wondering if some immigration official in India was waiting for "something else" (FT 9/4) before processing the stranded Suva woman's passage back to Fiji.
We recall the Noble Literature Laureate V.S. Naipaul telling us in his book An Area of Darkness that in India every office has its price.
That apparently is how they do business in that great democracy.
