Hot on the heels of a fiery speech by the new SODELPA leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa, Coup 4.5 is today able to release the names of potential candidates for the September elections.
SODELPA had earlier this year put out an advertisement calling for people to apply. We are told close to 200 applications were received and from there came a shortlist of 69 candidates.
Under the current arrangement, Fiji’s new parliament will have just 50 seats so the party will have to cull 19.
Key points to note: Tui Cakau Rt Naiqama Lalabalavu’s name is on the list, just five Indians have applied, Mick Beddoes, whose GVP party is now defunct, is an applicant as is youth leader, Pita Waqavonovono.

As someone wrote, USP VC Rajesh Chandra should pull his head out of Bainimarama and khaiyum's arses and focus on improving the quality of graduates.
The school of law, education and accounting are the worst. This has been the case for years, despite millions poured into USP.
Biggest concern is the rot at the school of education. The low-standard graduates churned out teach our children. By the time our children reach university, they know nothing. So the vicious cycle of substandard graduates is perpetuated.
For years the school of education has been in need of a big overhaul which dean Akanisi Kedrayate and VC Rajesh Chandra have failed to carry out.
The quality of education determines a country's progress. In this regard USP has been a big let down for the countries of the region.
USP has not been fulfilling its mandate. The situation has deteriorated to unprecedented levels under VC Rajesh Chandra. He is not up to the task. He is serving the Bainimarama regime first, the education needs of the region, later.
Rajesh Chandra has been busy building his own personal empire, and surrounding himself with cronies, at a huge cost to USP and tertiary education. The bureaucracy surrounding Rajesh Chandra is mind-boggling.
It is funded by cuts to teaching staff and facilities, all to makes Rajesh Chandra's work easier, and life comfortable, but and things harder for students and staff.
For the good of tertiary education in the Pacificm this man needs to be kicked out sooner rather than later.
Biman Prasad should not have to give up his teaching position in order to contest the election. And neither should Lynda Tabuya. Do we really want to make it more difficult for academics with advanced degrees and pedagogical skills to serve in public office? What's the point of that -- preventing the politicisation of USP's Suva branch? Much too late for that, thanks to the bullying of this illegal regime.

The regime has taken away from the people the ability to speak their mind in public, in meetings, in the news and even in offices of work. Even in our own families and particularly amongst those in the disciplined forces. It is at times uncomfortable. But the frustration burns inside.
This is what this leadership did and all it wants is servitude/servants. Even in the constitution it did not use various channels and forms of communications to make sure the common man could grasp it. It just gave big legalese document for everyone to consume. Why, because they want to then tell us their interpretation of the document that serves their purposes. In fact I still stand by my belief that the military including Bai do not understand the implications of its content or the decrees. They are just beginning to understand some of it with the Mahoghany decree I understand.
This is no different to the early Roman Catholic Church with the Bible. The Bible was in Latin. They were not interested in translating it into the language of the people. Why, because they were making money out of it. Until William Tyndale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tyndale) decided to do an English translation and he was victimized.
So make no mistake about the people behind this regime, the political and business interests, they want to enslave us and to do it only their way. Otherwise it’s the highway. But we must not relent we must not fear but take courage and fight for our freedoms even on the blogs in our daily conversations. In whatever small way we can. All of us.

SODEPA had a great chance to make a difference in Fiji. Change for better Fiji, Take Fiji to next level. But unfortunately in choosing Ro Teimumu they have lost that opportunity. In this day and age there is no place for a nationalist or someone that has such a bad attitude towards the minorities. I think Mick Beddoes, Tupeni Baba or Sitiveni Rabuka would have been a better choice. In Rabuka we could have had someone with experience as well as that military experience which in Fiji is necessary. Given that Rabuka is the one that started the coup culture, he is the one that needs to put an end to it too.
I feel that there is still time for SODELPA to make things right for Fiji. Ro Teimumu should do the honorable thing and step down. She could be a good Chief and take care of her Vanua her clan and her province. I am sure she has a lot to contribute to her people but not as leader of SODELPA. We need someone that is more moderate and one that would embrace multiracial Fiji.

PM and your comrades…stop going around using taxpayers money to campaign in disguise of opening new projects around Fiji. PM and his favourite step son - Khaiyum, had no opposition against their ideas, decrees and plans. had government resources at ransom, thats why they were able to implement a lot of things. In fact, they had no right to implement anything, being an illegal government.Their initial mandate was to clean up -so to say " a government they think was biased". Who the F*** gave them the right to start taking loans and building our infrastructures. It was so because they could make commissions from the many international loans we did with Malaysia, Exim Bank-china, France-Purchase of Airbus and many others.Now they go around saying they have done so much for the country, when in fact they were an illegal regime who has bought the cost of living to its highest in Fiji and have approved a wage earner rate of $4.00/hr minimum. That calculates to about $150.00/wk. How can we survive with the cost of things so expensive. They have increased the VAT so that we the people can cover for their loan repayments, including the commission they received whilst bank those money in offshore accounts like Cook Islands and other known places. Just a tip of the iceberg of the damages these two former flagstaff assholes have created.
