Fiji regime didn't put any money into Ghai Constitution review

The illegal Fiji regime had all the reasons to trash the Yash Ghai draft constitution because it had NOT put in any money towards its work.

Financial accounts of the now disbanded Constitutional Commission, obtained by Coup Four Point Five, reveals the illegal Fiji government only made available the parliamentarily complex to the Commission to house its offices.

All money and funding for the work of the Commission came from overseas governments.

The Commission’s accounts were audited by PricewaterhouseCoppers (PWC).

It reveals the Commission received just over 1.6 million dollars in donations to carry out its work.

The funders were:
Australian Aid - $601772
American Bar Association - $59648
New Zealand Aid - $582510
British High Commission - $108330
European Union - $248054

The whole audited accounts does not reveal anywhere that Frank Bainimarama’s illegal government put in a single cent towards the Commission.

It seems the illegal government made a decision right from the beginning that they were not going to accept Yash Ghai’s recommendations, therefore they did not financially support the work of this Commission.

It definitely would have been wasted tax-payers money if the illegal government had financially supported the Commission, and in the end trash its work.

Observers say Frank Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had no hesitation in rejecting the work of the Ghai Commisssion because they knew it was totally overseas funded work and they wouldn’t lose anything.

How is Ghai responsible for Fiji's coup culture which goes back to 1987 and 2000, when people worshipped Rabuka and Speight as saviours? Bible says you reap what you sow. Rabuka and Speight started coup culture, and Baini is carrying the torch. Ghai tried to help but people are lashing out at him. Stupidity at its worst. If you can blame Ghai, than you can blame Qarase too for his provocative, racist and reckless leadership. But same people blaming Ghai will quickly jump to the defence of Qarase. It is underpinned by racism and backward thinking, which is Fiji's problem. Country is full of semi-educated, hateful, resentful, envious under-achievers even through Fiji hypocritically prides itself as a religious society, which is bullshit. Looking for scapegoats and blaming others is a national pass-time in Fiji. It has never helped Fiji, and it never will.

Just like no "stupid and naïve simpleton" ever suggested Yash Ghai could pre-empt what Baini might or might not do with the "constitution" he drafted, no one ever blamed Ghai for Fiji's coup culture. Right? Or did we miss something?

Ghai tried to help, alright. He tried to help Ghai.

I'm not defending Rabuka, Speight, Qarase, racism, backward thinking, poor education, hate, resentment, envy, religion, etc., but don't blame them either for Ghai's arrogance, naïveté and opportunism.

@Ghai blame-game, yes, you did miss something. In fact you missed the obvious because you are clearly someone who sees and reads things simplistically, in black and white. People have been blaming Ghai and making all kinds of insinuations, but you don't see it? You do not even understand why constitutional experts exist! What I am saying is that it is not Ghai or the Ghai constitution that is at fault, so stop pointing fingers in wrong direction. Fiji's coup culture is to blame, if you want to go further, blame the British. Or God. Ghai's so-called "arrogance, naïveté and opportunism" have nothing to do with it. That's the end of it from me.

Scapegoat, nice try, loser -- loser because, first, you claimed "some simpleton" had argued that Yash Ghai could pre-empt what Baini might or might not do with the "constitution" he drafted, and then you claimed someone blamed Ghai for Fiji's coup culture. Challenged on both statements, you couldn't support either one of them. Yet you pathetically insist it's OUR fault for not sharing the false suppositions based on missing evidence you yourself couldn't summon in support of your claims.

Nobody claimed the Ghai Constitution is at fault for Fiji's coup culture, so why do you keep introducing that red herring? I challenged you to show us an instance where anyone made that claim, and you couldn't, but here you are again arguing as though someone had.

No. We're not saying Ghai should be blamed for Fiji's coup culture. We're not blaming the British or God, either, for that matter. Stop trying to shift blame from where it belngs. Our coup culture is mostly the creation of our oversized and traitorous military.

We're blaming Ghai for jumping into our business at the behest of an illegal and tyrannical dictatorship and drafting the Ghai Constitution when we already have a constitution, thank you, and don't want another crammed down our throats.

Ghai was another in a long line of arrogant, naïve and opportunistic carpetbaggers looking to capitalise on Fiji's woes. Your misattributions, blame shifting, and apologies can't disguise that fact, however much you try.
