The United Nations has condemned the actions of the security forces, made up largely of Frank Bainimarama's personal bodyguards and Ioane Naivalurua's strike back team, plus Corrections officers.
A satement by the spokesperson for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Rupert Colville, clearly shows concern.
“While the circumstances surrounding the video have not yet been ascertained, the acts being carried out in it are clearly illegal, and we condemn them in the strongest terms,” he told reporters in Geneva.
Colville (pictured left) and co will have to do more than issue a statement to impress those who've been urging the UN for some time to show teeth, even ban the Fiji peacekeepers."We as Fiji Citizens in Fiji and Globally wait for United Nation High Commissioner for Human Rights to send an Independent International Investigation Team to examine Fiji's Historical Timeline of Human Rights Abuse."
The New Zealand Labour Party and the Green Party are also keeping the pressure on the regime with Labour this week preparing to pass a motion in Parliament condemning the Suva regime.
It's hard to see New Zealand MPs snubbing the motion with leader of New Zealand First, Winston Peters, already saying he intends to vote in favor of the motion.
He has told media the Fiji military should lose its access to lucrative UN peacekeeping duties, and the British Army should stop hiring Fiji soldiers.
"[These organisations] have not been nearly as understanding and supportive as they should have been," he said. "They simply have not respected the Pacific wish to see proper democracy operating throughout the whole region."
The Green Party is also on the right track with its call for an independent investigation spearheaded by the international community.
The party's human rights spokesman, Jan Logie, (pictured middle) endorses the push for Fiji to be hit where it will hurt: "It is shameful that the United Nations is still using Fijian peacekeepers while human rights abuses are carried out by the Fijian military and police."
The video has also given people new momentum. In New Zealand, the Wellington community is planning to protest outside the Fiji embassy on Friday.
At home, the video has encouraged a call for citizens to use their cellphones to video senior government officers, army officers, police officers acting illegally or being abusive.
Intel sources are warning people taking part in the Say Nothing Video Everything campaign, though, to watch out for the police cyber unit.

One of the accused has meanwhile told Coupfourpointfive he was not part of the group that carried out the assault on Korovou escapee, Iowane Benedito, and the man accused of harbouring him.
Peni Gauinemeke, who was singled out by several people in the video clip pictured wearing the striped shirt and work boots, says he was in Taveuni watching rugby the day the assault was carried out, suggesting he knows the exact day the beating occurred.
He also told us the group involved was from Nabua before he deactivated his Facebook account.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 238 of 238Mick Beddoes is right. there will be no registration of political parties and they cannot challenge it in court. the reason? Judge Wati will rule in favour of the state. Why? because if she doesnt she will lose her job. all judges and magisrates are on contract. if you want to hold on to yours, you must obey the rulers.
even if you take her judgment on appeal you will face the same problem. callanchini and the sri lankan judges will follow the state agenda otherwise they will be terminated like the others.
So, it will be entirely up to shaneen to say yes or no, and he does not even have to give a reason. what can you do about it? nothing because you will be denied access to the courts to challenge what aiyarse says.
so all of you talking elections in 2014 are just hoping pigs will fly.
and we all know they dont. only run through the cassava patch and shit themselves.

editor,
The New Zealand parliament has sondemned State brutality in Fiji following the release of an online video showing the "torture of Fijian detainees" by state security forces ('Parliament condemns Fiji brutality' The New Zealand Herald 4.00PM Tuesday Mar 12.2013).Every one everywhere - in Fiji and around the world who want to see an end to the Military dictatorship of Frank Bainimarama and a return to civilized democratic rule in Fiji - would applaud the NZ Government's stance.
Where is Australia's leadership in this important regional matter?
Sincerely,

The first post on this blog thread is from Cros Walsh. Or is the poster an impostor? He says, "I can no longer side with this brutal regime....I cannot justify the stupidity of the PM Bainimarama."
Did I miss another Crosbie (Croz) Walsh denying that statement? If I did miss it, then I stand corrected. And I will apologize.
As for using an anonymous identity for fear of reprisal by the Illegal regime, I know of many who do this for this very same reason. That is my proof enough.
Your statement that you simply do not care about the legality/illegality and corruption/incorruption of this regime is regretted because persons who have no loyalty to a moral cause or otherwise can only be loyal to themselves.
Can Nil Sharma explain why Viseisei SAI health centre is dishing out EXPIRED medicine to non suspecting sick people???----where is all the aid money going ??
@anonymos March 11 ...fuck your CNN comparision dont sit on the fucking fence chode!!! You either with the regime or against it. eh Don't condone violence in Fiji. Stick to Fiji you stupid fuck. We don't want whats happening overseas to happen here on free scale like this boci dede.
@March 13 11:34am..you mean crooked rulers. Then we will just have to break the rulers and get straight ones. What say? Maro sala chutia...karia mukta
Mommy's Boy Saneem has been promised penile enlargement surgery by the AG if he does what he is told as Permanent Secretary for Justice.
Poor little guy. He is too ashamed to even go for a swim.
The new Chief Registrar is fitting in nicely. He is currently working from under the Chief Justice's desk.
Remember these people. They are yet to realise that they have accepted short term gain for long term pain.
Weak little traitors hiding behind the big boys.
@Sharon Suaniu 11:33 AM
Fortunately many people do and can voice their views, good and bad, and these are listened to.
Very fortunately also the views of people like you who's only recourse when dealing with something that does not agree with your view is to say "fark off back to where you came from" are seldom listened to.
1:05 PM When will ministerial salary & independant audit of illegal government spending be audited and open for public scrutiny. This site must be doing so well to have your attention.
Anonymous 8:24 AM, aka Graham Davis, honestly, why not sign your postings? After all, you champion the regime's media decree requiring reporters to give their bylines -- except, of course, when it's Sayed-Khaiyum ghost writing an article under someone else's name.
Are you afraid to own up to your views because you're not completely confident this regime will prevail and thereby prevent you from hanging for treason? Do you remain anonymous because you sense that your views will be widely unpopular and therefore make you more odious in the eyes of real Fijians? Or are you embarrassed by the fact that you still frequent C4.5? That's only understandable if you have a sense of shame, and you've proven time and again that you do not.
So, just give it up. Your inimitable, insufferably arrogant tone betrays you every time.
We know that Croz Walsh isn't 100 percent anti-regime. He's more like 90 percent -- not 90 percent anti-regime, mind you, just 90 percent confused. For example, the man cannot decide whether the video is authentic or a fabrication dating from Qarase's time in office. Nor can he make up his mind about whether Bainimarama is a great leader, or stupid and brutal. I fail to see how his inability to form coherent opinions on these matters should somehow recommend Croz as a man of perspicacity.
I also don't see how C4.5's anonymous posters are "threatening the government" unless that's semantic sleight of hand. Don't you really mean those who are defending the lawfully elected democratic government against treason by military coupists?
You say that "those with intelligence look at both the good and bad and and will have a view that covers both". That's quite a curious statement. Does this reflect a mature, pragmatic and broadminded world view or betray instead a godless philosophy based on moral relativism and personal expedience, as in writing whatever Qorvis pays you to say? Isn't "take off your blinkers" the argument the serpent used on Eve in the Garden?
I would say that those with wisdom look at both the good and the bad and can discern the difference. Those with moral intelligence don't try to straddle both.
@Anonymous 12:07 PM
Do you actually think that was from Croz Walsh ? Have you read similar sentiments voiced on his blog ? I do not just refer to his disagreement of the PMs stance on the video.
I also know of many that use anonymous not due to fear of the authorities but the extremists with their personal abuse and threats to those that do not agree with them. I'm not so dumb as to say that is my proof, because as per your statement it is one that has to evidence to substantiate it.
You may have noticed that these threats and abuse only ever come from the anti brigade, I wonder why ?
I would much prefer to see a democratically elected government in place, that is everyones right, but being a realist I also take the view of why replace something when you can not see anything better to replace it with.
As for loyalty to myself, I'm just one of the many many thousands that are getting on with life and making the most of it. You will not recognise me as there are just so many of us.
@ Annon at 1:26 PM
You are wasting your breath.
The old bible proverb says:
Rebuke a wise man and he will be wiser still
Rebuke a fool and he will hate you.
No prizes for where our chums Davis and Walsh fall within this adage.
That's right. No registration of opposition political parties. This will be decided in Fiji's subverted courts, so that the regime can pretend that all objections are challenges to "the rule of law". What cynical nonsense and injustice!
Now, what will we do about it?
No, I have not noticed that the threats and abuse only come from "the anti brigade". Moreover, it seems to me that Bainimarama's regime pretty well enjoys a monopoly on violence, unlawful as it is.
@Anonymous 1:26 PM
I will not waste my time responding to your comment as it appears the main thrust of it is tainted by your love of Graham Davis.
But thanks for the heads up that my writing abilities are improving to a standard where they are confused with that of a proffesional journalist.
Anonymous 1:05, if people can and do voice their views, it's only thanks to blogsites like C4.5, not to Fiji's security forces, courts, or media -- the very people who are supposed to defend that right to expression.
Sanaila, thanks for your posting. Laughed my ass off!
You forgot the Dharam Lingam tag line 'Long live Bainimarama!'
Sieg heil!
Why don't people talk about all the good things happening in Fiji instead of wasting their time dwelling on the negatives? Some people ask about transparency???
Ok Facts:
1. PM only gets 1 pay even though he has multiple portfolios. That's roughly the same for all ministers. It's much less than what Qarase was getting as PM.
2. Death of CRW boys - Short answer - they deserved to be killed because they were armed terrorists who went on a shooting rampage in Nabua...killing anyone they could see! Lets not forget that they took over parliament in 2000. Guilty Guilty Guilty.
3. Assault of Escaped Prisoners - Short answer - memudou sici...cava ga dou drotaka tiko...yavu kawa-ca...luveni-yali..

PRIME Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama says people in various parts of Fiji have asked him why have an election next year.
Speaking at the opening of the new Bua Nursing Station, Commodore Bainimarama said: "People have been saying to me in various parts of Fiji, 'why have an election at all next year? We're happy with things the way they are'. It's recognition of the hard work the government is putting into service delivery."
"Our program is on track. We know where we're heading and it's towards building a better Fiji for everyone," Commodore Bainimarama said.
He also asked why it had taken so long for Fijians to get the services they deserved.
"In the previous constitutions, for example we had the so-called entrenched provisions such as the Native Lands Trust Act yet there was no tangible progress, no development, no empowerment.
"My government is building a new Fiji based on equality for everyone — a country in which we are all Fijians and our children grow up with the same opportunities.
What a Load Crap this article on today's Fiji Times!! yes prepared by Min of Infor Sharon Smith and given to Fiji Times to print it..
Sanaila or Mr Snail i call you, stop wasting your time in here!!
@ Anonymous at 1:39 PM.
There are many things that have been suggested by many to make Fiji better. For example, Yash Ghai of the Constitution Committee and his team spelt out a formula that would have made us a better nation but you know what happened.
The draft was commended and agreed to by many people and organizations; but Ghai and his team were ignored after months of work and of visiting people and listening to their opinions. This Illegal regime, by abuse of its illegal authority, decided that its individual foolishness was better than the wisdom of the 7000 submissions that were received by the Commission. Their efforts and the cost of their efforts were thrown into the junk can and the precious papers burned. Do you think that we, the unselfish, must just stand by and be passive, like you, to these things?
I have heard of a saying that those who sit on the fence stand the risk of getting their bottoms scratched.

Anonymous 1:59 PM, it sounds like YOU are the one in love with Graham Davis, mate -- which makes you sound, well, exactly like Graham Davis.
Nobody said you're writing skills have "improved" to the level of the professional journalist Davis once was -- more like your moral standards have fallen to the level of the regime whore Davis has become.
I have 2 dogs one named Graham and the other named Davies.
Doh, Graham Davis bitch-slapped again!
That's one thing I like about C4.5. Davis ends up looking like a fool every time he ventures onto this site.
the long and short of graham davis article is that fijians violate each other all the time so whats new? true colonials never die.
Graham Davis has another article? Who knew? Who cares?
