How far will Fiji army go to avoid being sent back to the barracks?

Tikoitoga: Bloggers impression.
Seeking a true consensus or intimidation tactics?

With Mosese Tikoitoga saying "Let me tell you this, don't mess with the RFMF," one can only guess it's the second.

In an interview with the Fiji Sun published today, Fiji's land force commander makes it clear there will be no compromise and certainly no return to the barracks as recommended in the Yash Ghai draft Constitution.

Tikoitoga tells the Fiji Sun the RFMF will remain strong and 'no one will weaken it'.

Under the headline "Tikoitoga tells of attempts to weaken military", he says they are aware of moves by certain individuals, groups and political parties to weaken its strength.

His answer? “Let me tell you this, don’t mess with the RFMF."

Tikoitoga also tells the Sun he will keep engaging in the political debate about the draft Constitution despite political parties saying he's not entitled to make comments.

“As the RFMF Land Force Commander I’m entitled to air the military’s views on the Draft Constitution when and at whatever time it suits me. The people must be advised that the RFMF talks on issues.”

Tikoitoga scoffed at what he said was weak support of the three key parties - SDL, FLP and the UPP - questioning the neutrality of the Constitution Commission saying the influence of the old political parties and other groups was obvious in Ghai’s draft constitution.

He objected most to suggestions soldiers not follow orders they consider illegal and the downsizing of the military.

Tikoitoga says soldiers follow orders whether right or wrong. "Soldiers sign an oath to follow orders and they will at all times abide by it.”

He says any move to weaken the RFMF 'won’t happen' urging critics 'to come on board and move forward with the Government.'

He said: "There is no turning back."

The question now is: "How far will Tikoitoga and the armed forces go to avoid being sent back to the barracks?"

Anon Jan 7, 537 A marker read the similarities in the answers? The MC answers were all correct thus will all be the same because the students know the issues by heart. The students memorised from the same notes. Their study, preparation and cramming were based on previous exam topics. The supervisors on the day of examination detected/ reported no incidents of copying. I say the PS Ed. and minister made an ill informed conclusion. This can be a clear case of students working hard to realise their dreams, honouring their parents' sacrifice and good intentions. A decision on this case (an informed and just one) will be important for the students and the education ministry's exam SOPs

Anon Jan 7, 537. The students got the same questions right, its MC, they know the issues, they revised off the same notes/ topics. Did they copy? According to the exam supervisors, nothing was noted during the exam. So it is really, just a marker's hunch? The education minister and PS were right? And the students wrong? The students cheated? The case needs to be fairly addressed and investigated. There was a lot of time and hardwork put in by all parties. As it is, the students and their parents are the victims because áuthorities' have made a decision and then called for an investigation. This case confirms that the exam SOPs are inconsistent.

Anon 3.49pm (Jan 8, 2013). It does make sense IF you factor in self preservation for incompetent and self-serving leaders. Megalomania has a huge part to play here!

The saddest part of it all is that, in their corrupt dealings to preserve their ego and at the same time feed their insatiable hunger for power, the once honourable RFMF INSTITUTION has been irreparably damaged. Current officers like Tikoitoga who cite 'the oath' to justify their wrong doing show precisely the deep shit into which the institution has been left to sink in. What he and other officers like him have failed to do is to give equal weight to all of the three legs of the military's 'three legged stool'. While they have demanded absolute observance and adherence to 'the oath' and 'following orders', they have totally ignored the 'lawfulness/legality' of such orders and the fact that soldiers are not bound to follow orders that are unlawful and/or illegal. With the number of coups the country have suffered and the fact that the RFMF and its rank and file have time and time again been used to execute these coups, it is clear to see that not many of them know let alone understand their oath!!! If they do, then the immunity demands would not be the bone of contention it is today. As it stands today, one is left highly skeptical to their claims of executing the coups for the good of the country!

Tikoitoga was a clerk and will always have the mentality of a clerk regardless of whatever rank he is promoted to by another ulu-lala, the illegal PM!

There are rules and regulations that allow a soldier to disobey an 'UNLAWFUL' command - so stop trying to bullshit the people Kailoma! In the end, the poor soldiers will be put on the spot because of the false guidance you are feeding them. Ni kakua ni vakarogoca na luveni kawa ca, na tamata vuli vakavo oqo o Tikoitoga - Blerry clerk ga na clerk!

All soldiers must root Bainimarama and his senior officers as a token of their comradeship.

Just like Rabuka, Vore will one day suffer too. His tormenting of the Fijians will come back to haunt him.

This Constitutional bullshit release he made with that fake President yesterday will be revealed all too soon when he forms his own political party.

But nevertheless, even if he wins in the next elections, the most Supreme power will ensure he gets whats coming to him. Already he has a looser of a son Meli. Then his daughter that numbskull CEO of Sports Council( what a joke) who got appointed through nepotism, has just given birth to another child from a second marriage. Wonder how long this marriage to this younger man Masi will last. Isa Litiana, keimami sa otivi iko oti kece mai Marist.

Anyways Vore, you are a sad Marist OB.

But like Rabuka who is now paying and reaping his rewards for his desecration of the Fijian people when he mounted his first coup, you will also watch your family die a slow death.

Tell your pal Rabuka to tell you. After all, his daughter Salaseini Rabuka was sleeping with soldiers whilst still at Saint Joseph. Then she went to ACS for Form 5 and was being fucked by soldiers in the barracks. Then she had a kid from Mosese that army guy. Then she married seriel backstabber and con artist Aseri Radrodro who almost kills her for fucking Inia Kubuabola her own Kai. Isa ko Viti. And then funny funny Bulou Elena Rabuka, Rabuka's younger daughter and lover too!~ actually pussy licks Unaisi Rokoura every now and then.....oh wow.

Well Vore, your day is also coming. tick tock tick tock.....

Some very valid points by my i-taukei brother from outside Fiji, but to suggest that 'Christians' can only be methodist's in Fiji is laughable (which I'm doing now)...education is a big gap between the majority of i-taukei and the rest of Fiji's ethnic minorities.

Yes change will come to coup doer's. But by means of Chaudry and Beddows changing to become methodist's......hahahahaha, that's hilarious!!!
